Shutdown Showdown
URGENT: If you need wine label approvals, submit them to TTB ASAP ahead of a possible government shutdown that could start in a week. If that does happen, all TTB activities will cease, causing a significant backlog that could last weeks or months. (However, you’ll still have to pay your taxes.)
”They just want to burn the whole place down.” That’s what House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said to the media, not about the Democrats, but about some far right Freedom Caucus members of his own party. They wouldn’t even allow a normal slam-dunk measure (defense appropriations) to come to the floor, which meant they also couldn’t vote on it. So he sent them home for a long weekend, with a potentially disastrous government shutdown looming just a week from now. Absent some miracle, it now seems certain.
